About Chuck

I am retired after a career in electronics and in publishing. Today, my wife of 50+ years, Sylvia, and I live in a house on a hill beside a dirt road in rural west Michigan. We enjoy living in this country environment where livestock and wild life out number the human population.

  1. I had two babies sleeping in the backyard all day long not long ago, their mama was wide awake resting next to them the whole time though. If your little one is an orphan, I sure hope he finds some deer to buddy up with!!!

I’m linking up, but never mind the hat my son’s wearing in the pic. That’s his father’s fault, not mine!! :dontknow: GO STATE!!

    • It has a hard year for deer (see other comments).

I know that you would not have put your son in such gear.

  2. Awww….I hope it has a mom. Rats, now you got me worrying about the little fella. Do you really think it is alone?

    • This has been a very hard year for the wildlife–especially the herbivores, like the deer. Rita Tubbs reports that in her area many of the deer are dying for lack of food. I’ve seen a young one alone a couple of times since. Usually they would stay with mom until spring. However, I’m no expert.

    • Yes, it is. I’m concerned that it may now be an orphan. This winter has been very hard. A friend from north of here says that lots of deer have died in her area. We’ve not been seeing many deer in recent days only a very few.

  3. Aw… but why did it choose to rest practically out in the open? That tree wasn’t much in the way of cover or wind protection.
