What do we do on a dew, dew, dewy day?

Yesterday, I saw this pair of sandhill cranes in our hay field.  Later they were finding edibles on the ground as they moved about.  They took their time as they alternated between watchfulness and feeding.

I don’t often see them on our land, although they are frequent visitors on the other side of the road.  My first thought was turkeys, but a second look proved that wrong.

Other visitors

Briana-Jared

On Sunday, our granddaughter, Briana, stopped by with her boyfriend, Jared.  They were in Michigan to attend a wedding.  This was our first opportunity to meet Jared and we enjoyed a very nice time together.

Like so many things in life, that pleasant visit was over far too soon.  Fortunately we can visit on the phone and online.

    • Your observation is “spot on.” Time will tell on your question. I’m not in a position to make a good judgement.

  1. Wow! Cool visitors!

Sandhill cranes are huge birds, aren’t they? I hear them overhead wayyyy up in the sky…but they don’t land around here. That’s exciting that they came to your place for a meal and a rest.

Briana looks great…and happy. So nice that you got to see her and meet Jared. She is a star in so many ways. How very lucky you are!!

    • They are very impressive birds. However, the farmers don’t care for them all that much.

Briana is indeed a star. While on a short break from grad school, she passed certification for progressive care nursing. The break is over for her, so it’s back to the studies while working full time at the hospital.

  2. Hurrah for visits with the grands. That’s always one of my favorite times here too. 🙂

  3. I’m fascinated by those Cranes…a group of them live on the back corner of our farm as there is a waterhole back there. Once in a while they come around our yard!!! ..What a nice picture of Briana and her boyfriend. I remember meeting Briana many years ago at a radio meeting !!
