About Chuck

I am retired after a career in electronics and in publishing. Today, my wife of 50+ years, Sylvia, and I live in a house on a hill beside a dirt road in rural west Michigan. We enjoy living in this country environment where livestock and wild life out number the human population.

  1. Wow these fellows are very very friendly. Right up to you. Thats amazing. 😆

    • Almost. We were on opposite sides of the window, but it was a first. I was very surprised at the boldness of these [usually] shy creatures. Oh well, at least I got a good blog post out of it and a great memory to store away. 🙂

      • I would love to have a memory like that. What an amazing thing to happen.

So glad to *see* you again.

    • It was very special, Beth. I’ve never had them come up to the window and look directly at me before. Special perhaps, but I’m not going to give them handouts. 😉

  2. “Hey! Mister! You need to fill that garden for us. Or at least take the fence down. Mister! Mister???”

    • Hey kid. Chew on the grass! You’ll love it. :food: I know that you will. I’ve seen you out there most every day nibbling away. :ha:

  3. We have a group of deer that travel through our yard quite often too. They’re way more skittery than yours though…they bolt if we’re too noisy looking at them through the window.

    Great pictures.

    • These two are not what we usually see. They grew up right around here and have spent a lot of time on our patch of ground. That seems to give them more confidence than most deer that we see.

  4. Wow, they come up so close! Do you intentionally feed them or do they just munch through your garden?

    • Neither. They nibble on the grass in our lawn. Morning is nice when the grass is covered in dew.

I’m glad that they choose to give the garden a pass. Our fence won’t keep out a determined deer. It does serve well to repel the rabbits and woodcharlies.

    • It’s the latter. That is, not on our lawn but here in the neighborhood. These two are “the twins” that I’ve referred to before. You can see the vestige of spots on the back in that final shot.
