Lily Comes Home

This picture of Lily was on The Ionia County Animal Shelter Website.

Sylvia and I met  Lily on our first visit to the shelter.  We were not going to adopt that day, and Lily was not yet available.  A few days later, the shelter listing was updated and had this to say about Lily:

My name is Lily and I am about 7 years old and a Siamese Lynx Point mix.  I am spayed and up to date on all my vaccines and am FELV negative.  I lived with 59 other cats in the house and they came and brought me to the shelter.  I am a very sweet girl and love getting lots of attention.  I can’t wait to find me a new home and new family to love and care for me.

Today, Sylvia and I returned to the shelter.  We visited with lily for a while and talked with the director about her.  We took care of some formalities and then we were able to bring her home.

Once we were home, Lily went to the heated basement where she has food, water, litter and a comfy bed.  Right now, she is getting acquainted with her new surroundings.  We’ll get better acquainted with her later.

  1. Aww, look at her, she’s a pretty little girl. And 59 other cats??? Whew…that’s a lot! Probably gonna take her a little while to adjust to being an only child, but I predict she’s sure going to love it. 🙂 Congrats to you and the Mrs. on your new family member. 8)

    • Thanks Rosey. Definitely a rescue situation. She needed lots of TLC to get ready for her new home, and now it’s a process of settling in and taking charge. Cats will do that as you probably already know. 😉

  2. Oh my goodness!!!! How wonderfully amazing!!!! And a Siamese mix, too!!!!! Wow wow wow, I am so happy for all three of you! I can’t wait to hear more stories. By the way, if Lily needs any advice, she can feel free to direct her Qs to Livvy via our email. One quick bit of advice: steamed salmon. Mmmm 🙂

    • Thanks. Stories take time to develop. Lily has been hiding in a “safe” corner in the basement. She came out last night to eat, drink, use the litter box and at least inspect if not sleep in her new bed (she had tracked in one tiny piece of something that clung to her paw). A bit ago, I noticed that she has moved her hiding place. Hopefully, that ends soon. But that’s entirely up to her.

      Thank Livvy for the kind offer. I’m sure Lily will want to take advantage of that. More later . . .

  3. How wonderful! And I’m guessing you waited until that awful ceiling project was done before welcoming Lily home. I will look forward to hearing a lot more from her in the future.

    • Yes, we waited until the ceiling project was [mostly] done. Actually the guest room still need to be done, but that’s not going to happen for a while. Now the house is kitty ready. 😀

    • Yes Lin, it’s a very good day. :awe: However we are off to a slow start. Lily is hiding in the basement. 😐 I’ve read that this is not unusual. I’m hoping that it won’t take her long to claim ownership on the house. You know it’s going to happen. We’ll just have to be patient. Isn’t she beautiful? And blue eyes too.
