Our friend Shark of My Quality Day sent an e-mail asking if the welcome mat would be out for her on Saturday and Sunday. I replied assuring her that it would.
She would be doing some programs in Albion on Friday and Kalamazoo on Saturday. You can read about it on her blog. Saturday evening, a very tired Shark arrived at our door.
Shortly after getting settled into a comfy chair, our guest asked if she’d get to see Nellie, our cat. Sylvia explained that Nellie is a very shy girl and she’d probably be hiding while we had company in the house.
Perhaps it was an effort to prove her fickle feline ways that prompted Nellie to come gliding into the room. Nellie eyed Shark. She came near and sniffed and extended hand. And then, to her staff’s amazement, Nellie let Shark pet her. What? Later she would jump up in the chair with this stranger.
I failed to document this with the camera. Later, I realized that it had been sitting within reach while Nellie was bonding with Shark. Shucks!
Sylvia, Chuck and Joan of Shark
Our time together sped by so fast and then it was Sunday afternoon. We had shared many fun stories and enjoyed a few hundred laughs. But Shark had a job to complete at home and too quickly took leave of us.
I turned on the TV and DVR to watch the NASCAR race. I saw most of it at 4X speed, slowing down when something interesting was happening on screen. (My guy fought back from some early difficulties to finish sixth.)
Sunshine and warmth in today’s forecast. Should be the kind of weather we’ve been waiting for. Especially the end to record flooding.
How nice to have company. Perhaps I will come to visit.
Will you let a goat come to visit?
I do poop at will…..
Yes, you may come to visit. I would like that very much. I’m afraid that Sylvia won’t let you sleep in the guest room. Female persons can be that way. You are a wise goat and probably already know about things like that.
You can chew and even poop on our lawn, but that same female person won’t want you near her gardens. She can be fussy about things like that.
You can probably even visit with some of our neighbor Meghan’s goats. She also has sheep, a cow and a llama. You’d like this neighborhood.
How wonderful! A visit from Shark would be a joy indeed. Nellie of course behaved in normal cat fashion. Perversity, thy name is Cat.
It was refreshing. The only thing better would have been to have all the group members present. Maybe later this year?
Oh, how FUN! I hope Sharkey comes to visit me someday! 🙂
Those cats will prove you wrong every time–it’s so crazy.
Her visit required only a minor detour. We loved it. You would have loved it too.
I was really happy to see Nellie take to Shark as easily as she did. That should be a promise of even better connections with us over time.
Haha- If I’d known you were willing to watch races at 4X speed, I might have been willing to participate. Some things just seem to have more appropriate amounts of time-wasting at faster rates. Just kidding. Love you “guys!” And Nellie was a treat.
The live leader board and summary comments online with my laptop kept me up with progress. That meant I didn’t have to listen to the announcers’ comments. I prefer to chat with a friend than to be distracted by images on the TV.
I was amazed at how easily Nellie took to you. It was most pleasing to see.
Aww, Nellie’s branching out w/her visits, that reflects well on you guys too. 🙂
It’s nice that you’re building up a home of trust for her.
Glad you had company. Weekend visits rock.
Certainly a number of good things happening here.
