The proverbs speak of flattery. Here are a couple of key verses:
29:5 Whoever flatters his neighbor
is spreading a net for his feet.
Here, the word flattery conveys the idea of “smooth talk that deceives.”
28:23 He who rebukes a man will in the end gain more favor
than he who has a flattering tongue.
Remember to “speak the truth in love.”
Wow thank you Chuck!! No one has ever told me that before.
I will work on getting into this habit.
Thank you so much,
Jackie
Shinade (aka Jackie),
Flattery (smooth talk that deceives) may not be there, but I understand the concern that kind words be taken for flattery. Years ago, I was taught two techniques:
1: Give a compliment and a reason for it.
2. Say it to another person and let them pass it on.

Hello Chuck,
I did get my award posted. thank you once again. I would have preferred to have posted it much more prominently but time is big factor right now as my husband leaves tomorrow morning.
This time he will be away for almost 2 months due to the economy.
Now to the verse today. I know this to be true and I often times am very afraid that people will think this of me.
But, when I tell someone something nice, it really comes from my heart.
I am not just trying to flattering them or gain a special plce with them.
Yet, as stated I do often wonder if people think of me as just trying to flatter them.
I truly hope not. I try as best i can to speak from my heart, for better or worse.
This is a very good verse to post. it should make all of us stop and think.
Blessings of peace,
Jackie:-)
