Story Continued

Yesterday ended with Sylvia’s car stuck in the driveway.  Yes, it was my fault.  :beam:   This morning started for me when I looked out the office window and saw this:

Next-door neighbor brings snow blower to the rescue

Our neighbor came calling with his snow blower.  Sylvia ran out with shovel in hand to pitch in.  They cleared a path to get Sylvia’s car back on the driveway.  As they were doing that, I was clearing the upper part of the drive with the tractor’s front-end loader.

Soon, we were able to back the car to the bottom of the drive.  I continued to work at scraping off packed snow and carving back on the intruding snow banks and drifts.

The drive is clear again, but for how long?

Sylvia needed to run some errands in town, which she did as I completed my work.  Before long she returned and easily drove up the newly cleared drive.

Errand complete, Sylvia returns home

In answer to yesterday’s question, a day can make a big difference.  The beat goes on . . .

For tomorrow, the weather prophets are saying eight inches of snow should be falling on us.  :surrender:   And here I sit thinking about how pleasant life was in San José, Costa Rica.  But family is here in Michigan and family is much more important than a few minor inconveniences–such as weather.

  1. You’ve got THE best neighbors!! Glad you got that driveway done, and it’s looking good!!!

I hand shovel mine, but it’s not as big as yours. 🙂 I just got back in, matter of fact shoveling the end where the plows piles some up this morning. My in-laws are due any second and I wanted to make sure they could get through.

That’s crazy that Grand Rapids is out of funds!! That’s not a small place either. UGH!! :nono:

    • Yes, our neighbors are the best!

The big problem must be that snow has to be trucked away from urban zones. Too much has fallen and hung around to be able to just push more to the side of road and walk ways. :surrender:

Hope you have a good visit with the in-laws. :hkitty:

  2. (I was writing a note here and everything disappeared, so try, try again.)

February 1. Today is the tomorrow you referenced. Luckily, our precip today is in the form of rain. If you are getting a like amount as snow, you will soon be shoveling your drive again. Our next “big one” is predicted to arrive Tuesday. *grrr*

    • So, today is that “tomorrow” that we talked about yesterday. And it is white snow that is falling upon us here in west Michigan. Fortunately, I use the tractor’s front-end loader to do my “shoveling.” Looks like you next one will slide south of us. Think happy thoughts. 😀

  3. Ugh. We are getting 10 inches today too. It’s to the point that the weatherman ought to just tell us when it’s NOT gonna snow.

    Glad Sylvia got un-stuck!

    • Grand Rapids, Michigan mayor announced last week that they’ve spent this season’s budget for snow removal. :surrender:

I want to get a 4x vehicle with a rearward-facing camera for backing up for her. If so, I hope she lets me drive it sometimes. 😉

    • It was great while it lasted. It’s now Saturday morning and snow is steadily falling. The forecasters say we’ll probably receive eight inches by the time it ends tonight. More to follow . . . :surrender:

  4. I believe i can get out tonight and in in the morning. I plan to go on a ski outing with SPW tomorrow. Hopefully I can get in after that. I really need to take a picture of the pile at the bottom of the drive.
