As I mentioned in the previous post, we had to get a photo of Sylvia’s Jeep at the dealership while it was still bright and shiny. That was Wednesday morning by Wednesday evening, there was mud splattered all over the tires, doors and back of the vehicle.
We’ve been going through the owner’s manual as we try to learn all the features. At the dealership, they helped Sylvia setup the vehicle for her. I had to learn how and do it for myself. When she starts the Jeep, the driver’s seat, mirrors and radio presets are all customized for her. When I use my key, they are all setup for me. How neat is that?
Yesterday, a friend confided to me, “I really covet your wife’s new ride.” My response? “Yah, me too!”
And On TV
We’ve been watching some of the action from the winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. We liked ice dancing, snow boarding, but most of all hockey (both men and women). Last night Sylvia was in her basement exercise area watching figure skating while I was in the family room watching NASCAR. The Daytona 500 is this Sunday on Fox. Every indication points to a very exciting race this year. Will you be watching? Do you have a favorite team?
I’m going to be very interested to see that car. It looks perfect for Sylvia! I think all those electronic gadgets are just too many things to break, though. But you can’t get away from them now. I haven’t been watching any TV for months.
It should be just what Sylvia needs. (me too)
We may be only a generation away from vehicles that require a degree in engineering to operate. Or it least it seems that way to this old geezer. They won’t be bad for the generations that grew up with computers and video games, etc.
Ooooh, that is one sweet ride!! That will be good for you guys to be able to get out should the roads be dangerous. I doubt she will get stuck again. Whew!
I tried to watch the Olympics. I did. I’d sit there and try to pretend that I could watch ice skating/dancing or skiing for the cabillionth time…but I could not. I can’t listen to the “personal stories” of the athletes, as the commentators, I swear, are just making stuff up so you “connect” with the athlete. It’s horrible. Well…for me, anyway. I have no interest in the Olympics anymore.
That said, I’m not sure there is much else on the TV that is enjoyable. We don’t turn it on very often. And when I do, I wonder what our parents are tuning in to as the stuff on network TV is just so offensive.
Our theory is that the Jeep is our winter car. My Dodge Intrepid will be our summer car. Time will tell how that’s going to work for us.
You can count on the fingers of one hand the TV shows that we watch. That number increases greatly if you add Netflix.
Newton Minnow was chairman of the FCC in the 1960s when he made that famous quote that so precisely described TV as a “vast wasteland.” It was true then and by now the waste has gotten a whole lot nastier. Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.
As soon as we get out of church on Sunday we’ll be tuning in to the Michigan / MSU ball game. I’m cheering for State and hubby’s cheering for the Wolverines.
I hope you like the race.
I like Sylvia’s Jeep! :cloud9:
We’re watching the Olympics here and there. Everyone in the house likes them.
Go Spartans! Tonight [Friday] I’m watching the truck race. It has been very exciting and looks like it could get frantic with 14 laps to go.
I like Sylvia’s Jeep too! :awe: We went to look at a Dodge Journey 4WD, but it sold just before we got there. I think we may have come out better for it.
Our typical sports viewing is NASCAR for me and NHL hockey for Sylvia. The latter is a lot more enjoyable with HDTV. Or do you remember the analog TV days when you couldn’t see the puck? With the Olympics on, we broaden out the filters to take in more variety. It’s all good.
Lucky lady!
I suppose she is. :woot:
But I’m the lucky guy that’s hitched to that lucky lady.
