It was going to be a beautiful morning. I looked out the window at the pre-dawn sky and knew I had to capture an image to share with you. I’m not really a morning person, but I found the camera, turned it on, pointed it out the window and captured this:
Oops! It was in “auto” mode and the flash went off, which gave a nice view of the business end of the lens. I changed the mode to “night sky” and had better luck.
The waning crescent moon foretold the coming dawn. I was able to catch a few Zs before coming back to the window to see the newly risen sun shining through the trees.
The new day had begun. I watched for some time and then turned to my computer and began to visit some of my favorite blogs while my morning coffee was brewing in the kitchen. .
Clara, They really are special.
Lin, I went back to to my LA-Z Boy and back to sleep. Honest I did.
Vanilla, It can happen here, in the west end of the time zone, in December, when the wife gets up early. In other words, it doesn't happen every day.
Dawn, Thanks.
Ida, Yes I did. Thanks for each new day.
Joanne, I was actually quite pleased with that first shot. I can see the moon and the contrast and colors come through very well. As our friend, Vanilla, said, "Serendipity."
PJ, I prefer to sleep in a bit, but some days a body just has to get up. So many of our days here at this time of year feature lead gray skies that it is a special treat to see a scene like that.
what gorgeous photos! i love the mornings, so calm and relaxing. thanks for sharing them. have a wonderful day…hugz!
Chuck, gorgeous shots and a very surreal look on the first one – I like it.
What a wonderful way to start the day. You did whisper a 'thank you' to the Creator for that view, right?
Beautiful shots!
I rather like the Oops! shot. Call it serendipity.
It is so great that you can experience the sunrise. Just call me sleepy head. (New habit in my old age.)
What are you doing up at the sunrise??? I'd be sleeping in if I had the chance. Did Midnight get you up??
Great pictures. The middle one is really amazing. Sunrise and sunset in the winter is so beautiful.
Grampy, I agree and the coffee was good this morning.
FishHawk, At first I was disappointed, but then saw there was magic there. Yes, He certainly can paint the sky better than any human artist.
Sharkbytes, That blue spiral did appear strange didn't it? I liked the first one too. That's why I posted it.
I actually really like the first one. Reminds me of this one http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1234430/Mystery-spiral-blue-light-display-hovers-Norway.html#ixzz0ZEysRAWK
Even with the flash mess-up, that first pic is spectacular! Our Heavenly Father certainly knows a thing or two about how to paint a sky–doesn't He?
What a wonderful way to wake up in the morning.Enjoy your coffee.
