Our friend Sharky of My Quality Day, stopped my last evening. She was returning from a conference in Pennsylvania, which you can read about on her blog.
This morning, after breakfast Sharky and Sylvia headed out to garden. I went out and caught some of the action.
The morning sun was very bright. The last cabbage that we harvested weighted ten pounds. This one is at least that big.
Is that why they call it a head of cabbage? Perhaps it is.
While Sharky does her morning work out, Sylvia harvests a couple jalapeño peppers. Great! I see salsa in my future.
The gals are busy in the kitchen while I write this. From the odors that make their way back her to the office, I think it’s going to be a wonderful lunch.
On a personal note, I’m waiting for results of Wednesday’s bone scan.
We did have fun, and no harm done…. :frolic: Garden pics are posted.
Your visit was most welcome. It was like being with a sister. :cheer:
:frolic: It was good that in the mini gathering of Blog Posting Murderers, no harm was done to man, beast or personal property. :frolic:
Love the pics you posted. :awe:
I hardly know where to start eating! My pumpkin is very sad, but not quite dead. Not sure if it will grow a pumpkin or not
That is the biggest cabbage I’ve ever seen! You must have rich soil.
Good luck, I hope you get the results you are hoping for on your bone scan.
The secret to the abundant harvest is rotted manure. We covered the garden last fall and tilled it under this spring. We’ve never grown cabbages larger than these. They each weight about ten pounds. 😀
Thanks for the good wishes. I’m hoping to hear today, but have no idea when I’ll receive the results. 8)
Hurrah for visits!!
That’s a huge head of cabbage you’ve got there, and now I’m singing ‘He ain’t heavy…’ lol
Are those flowers mixed in with your veggies??? I’m brand new at this, I didn’t know you could do that, I like it!!!
And now I’m headed over to Sharky’s to see how things went in PA. 🙂
As you say Rosey, visits are the best. :awe: I’m sure you’ve already guessed that I was singing that song as I prepared this post.
Marigolds are beautiful to the eye, but offensive to the nose. And offensive not just to us but to bugs and nibbley critters. For us, they serve that dual purpose.
She posted some of her best pictures from PA. They all had a good time together. 😀
That’s a heck of a head!
Greetings from Minneapolis!
Pearl
Yes Pearl, that is a large head. We’ve never grown larger. I’m surprised they haven’t split. :whaa:
It has been a good year for us here in west Michigan (east of Grand Rapids).
That’s a lot of slaw. Or kraut, or. Well, it’s a big cabbage. Happiness is a visit from Sharkey.
Cabbage also headlines a boiled dinner. The fresh potatoes will go well with that. :food:
Happiness is indeed a visit from Sharky. :cheer:
Glad you guys had such fun. Praying for you, my dear friend.
Thanks Rebecca. We did have a very good time together. Your prayers are deeply appreciated. 8)
