Steps to Happiness

I came across the following as I was sorting papers. It appears to have come from October 2008, but the message is timeless. How can we experience happiness?
Here are five steps:
Connect
Developing relationships with family, friends, colleagues and neighbors will enrich your life and bring you support
Be active
Sports, hobbies such as gardening or dancing, or just a daily stroll will make you feel good and maintain mobility and fitness
Be curious
Noting the beauty of everyday moments as well as the unusual and reflecting on them helps you to appreciate what matters to you
Learn
Fixing a bike, learning an instrument, cooking – the challenge and satisfaction brings fun and confidence

Give
Helping friends and strangers links your happiness to a wider community and is very rewarding

I can see that many of you are practicing some, or all, of these on a regular basis. What works best for you?

  1. Vanilla, Right. Never underestimate the power of a cup of hot coffee.

Shutterbug, I agree, but I also have to learn something new almost everyday.

    Lin, Excellent point.

Sharkbytes, Some of the items are more important, and the order is not the same for all of us.

    Cai, Good point there friend.

  2. That's very interesting. Even though I made up my "quality day" components all on my own, they really are the same as this list except I didn't include the connect one (that anti-social me again)

  3. All of these are important and I think that being curious and noticing the simplicity in life is most important.
