About Chuck
I am retired after a career in electronics and in publishing. Today, my wife of 50+ years, Sylvia, and I live in a house on a hill beside a dirt road in rural west Michigan. We enjoy living in this country environment where livestock and wild life out number the human population.
I've never seek a real one before since its not one of the migratory kinds that visit one country and another. But its nice to see a good photo of this amazing bird.
Seek No More
I really miss our feeders, but we had to give them up until I can get my income up some more.
Ooooh, nice shots!! Is that a goldfinch starting to turn yellow??? Can it be spring is coming???!
Buggys, They really pack it away when a storm is approaching. Then, they'll clean out the feeders in no time flat.
Night Owl, We enjoy watching them. The cat does too — sometimes.
Pricilla, The hairy woodpecker look a lot like the downy except it is bigger and has a larger (longer) bill. I don't see hairy woodpeckers around here — just the downy kind.
The woodpeckers are so cute. I can never tell the downy from the – aack my brain fails me – the other one that looks just like the downy. heh
thanks so much for sharing that is a rare sight in the winter around here
They are beautiful
That's the view in my backyard as well. Those little guys get hungrty!
Grampy, Me too.
PJ, Those and many more. In the photos there is a downy woodpecker, nut hatch, sparrow, american gold finch and house finch. We also see red bellied woodpeckers, juncos, tit mouse, chickadee, cardinal and blue jay. A couple years ago, we had a pair of blue birds that stayed through the winter.
are all those different kind of birds around all the time there?
I love to see the woodpeckers at the suet.
