I am retired after a career in electronics and in publishing. Today, my wife of 50+ years, Sylvia, and I live in a house on a hill beside a dirt road in rural west Michigan. We enjoy living in this country environment where livestock and wild life out number the human population.

  1. Thank you all that made nice comments about the picture I painted of our family cottage. Chuck put it there because of the humming bird in it, I think. Actually the original photo our son Scott took last summer had a very modern looking humming bird feeder (black and silver) and no bird. So he asked me to paint the bird at the feeder that I painted on a rock for my folks many years ago. I just started painting again in Jan. of '08 after 30 years. I really enjoy the challenge, but I have a lot to learn. I can't wait to hear about what some of you can do. You need to enter Chuck's Talent contest. Sylvia

    Love the hummingbird too–how hard that is to get a good photo of those little guys. I especially like the one with his neck outstretched!

  5. Wow, that painting of Slyvia's is really good. With her being so talented on top of everything else, I'm running out of excuses for her being married to you. I suppose being extremely kind-hearted still works, but there has to be a limit.

    Your hummingbird is so darn cute. I put out a feeder THREE WEEKS ago and I've only seen one hummingbird, and he didn't even stay to take a sip. What is wrong with my feeder????

  11. I love the hummingbird sitting up saying "Who, what, me?" And how cool that Sylvia paints too. Very nice.
