Happy New Year

Here we are a new year. Full of hope and promise. Made your resolutions? Folks tell us that most of them will be broken before this first month has gone. I kept the one resolution that I made last, “Make no resolutions.” It worked so well, I think I’ll do it again.

As we ended November with our hearts and minds filled with thanksgiving and gratitude let us start this new year the same way.  In particular, I am thankful for those who stay awake at night so that we might sleep in peace.

I’ve been thinking lately about how unaware we can be about so many things. It brings to mind a question.

While we sleep,
Do angels weep,
As innocents bleed,
upon the idol’s altar?

About Chuck

I am retired after a career in electronics and in publishing. Today, my wife of 50+ years, Sylvia, and I live in a house on a hill beside a dirt road in rural west Michigan. We enjoy living in this country environment where livestock and wild life out number the human population.

  1. I don't make resolutions. That way I don't disappoint myself.

    That's a good question to ponder…

  2. I made that same resolution years ago, and it seems to be the only one I've been able to keep. Happy New Year, Chuck!

  3. But Chuck, didn't you break your resolution by making a resolution not to make a resolution?

  4. Wow… pretty dark poem for you! I am making one resolution, and it only has to last for one month. I've promised myself that I will work on a certain project in Jan. Might share on the blog. Might not… we'll see.
