Secondary Roads in Spring

They may look like this:

SpringRain

The image is of the road in front of our house.  It looks like I’ll never have a clean car again.  Ever!

The roads looked like this until the county road grader made it flat again.  That lasted almost two day.  Then rain returned, and once again it looked like the image.

The county workers returned later and now the road is in good condition.  I like it like that.  Wouldn’t you?

About Chuck

I am retired after a career in electronics and in publishing. Today, my wife of 50+ years, Sylvia, and I live in a house on a hill beside a dirt road in rural west Michigan. We enjoy living in this country environment where livestock and wild life out number the human population.

  1. So many of the roads look like that around here right now. I guess that gives us something in common. I could do with a few breaks in the rain right about now though.

  2. The road would not know whether it is spring, summer, autumn or winter now.

A snail wouldn’t know where is Amazon or what is Encyclopedia Britannica.

Only that, you and I can dream.

    To daydream.

    Happy weekend.

    • It is only in the world created within your mind and mine. We care, but the snail and the road do not care.

Hope you also have a great weekend, my friend.

  3. Oh, yuck. I think I would not like that drive with my newly cleaned car. Although, if I lived out there, I’d probably get a truck or a jeep and rarely clean it–enjoying the mud to its fullest. Pros and cons of living where you live. I hope to live like you do someday.

    • If you want a shiny car, this is not the place to live. However, if you want to live closer to the earth, life like this is great. It’s where we chose to live in retirement. That was 16 yrs ago. It was, for us, an excellent choice.

  4. I can imagine there is a certain tranquility in living on Secondary Roads. I know from experience the peacefulness of gentle rain on a tent. The mud in the morning is a whole different matter.

    • When Mel H was here the first time, he kept saying, “I can’t believe it is so quiet out here.” At that time he was just of Kalamazoo Av. At least the mud is on the road and not closer. 😀
