Yesterday, as I was enjoying a [seasonally] warm day, I heard what I consider one of the first sounds of spring. The red-winged black bird’s trill.
It looks like we may be in for an early spring this year. I can handle that.
You may look for robins, but I’m watching for the turkey vultures. Okay, I’m looking for robins too.
My favorite bird! Thank you for posting! I will trade joys by posting snowdrops for you tomorrow. 🙂
You are very welcome, Lin. I look forward to seeing pix of your delightful snowdrops. I am enchanted by them.
Great shot of the rwb. Magpies were abundant on the High Plains back in my youthful days. Haven’t seen one in this area, ever.
Thanks. Peterson’s Field Guide to Eastern Birds reports that magpies are found in the west and rarely seen around here. There have, however, been sighting reported as far east as New England.
I’ve been hearing/seeing groups of small birds and they come swirling in to land in the field near the house with lots of loud , happy chirping going on like they are celebrating their arrival after a long trip from somewhere. Maybe they are saying: Spring, Spring, Think Spring !!!!!
Same here. Those little rascals wake me up most mornings.
Beautiful. I also think Magpies are beautiful.
A magpie would be exceedingly rare in this area. They look good in pix, which is the only place I’ve seen one.
