Paw Pounding Puss

Sometimes, Midnight likes to play.  Okay, he’s all cat and mostly he’d rather nap, and I can relate to that.  Quite well in fact.

That playful mood usually comes on him in the morning shortly after breakfast.  Sometimes it comes in the evening.  It usually starts with him taking off like a sprinter. I shout, clap my hands once and laugh.

When he runs he slaps those paws down hard on the carpet.  Sylvia calls him Thunder Paws when he does that.  It is an apt description of our diminutive beast. 🙂

Shortly after hiding under a bed or behind a chair, he’ll come out for more.  It quickly becomes a game, which we then play for several minutes.  It’s a lot of fun!

The other day he ran from me full speed into the dining area.  He tried to stop or change direction on the laminate floor.  Oops!  Bad mistake there Midnight.  He slammed against the wall with a mighty thump.  The fun ended as quickly as it had begun.  Our hero gathered up his feline dignity and walked off as if it didn’t hurt–not even a little bit.  I’m not so sure.

Thunderstorms moved through earlier, so I’m late getting this posted today.  In the last few minutes I see another huge bank of black clouds heading this way.  The online weather radar shows more activity headed this way.  I’m going to post this now.  I hope to see you here again tomorrow.

  1. "shake" not "shale" out the pain. She got her paws on my hands while I am at the keyboard, LOL! Maybe she wants to learn to type.

  2. Livvy pounced on a ball yesterday, only to smack her head very hard against the door with a loud THUD. She doesn't have much feline dignity, lol. She hopped away from the door and shook her head several times as if to try to shale out the pain.

  3. Oh, we call that "Horses in the house" when the kitties run like that. They do sound like a herd, don't they?

I play "I'm gonna get you" with Grace, which is her favorite thing ever. And sometimes she gets me and likes to bite my hand–although not too hard. They love to play. 🙂 Sounds like you and Midnight are having quite the good time!

Word Verif: spoing–yep, I think that is the sound Midnight made bumping into the wall. 🙂

  4. midnight is the color of our storms- we had an impressive thunderstorm, but not the damage that there was south of here. hope you didn't get much damage. hey maybe it was midnight causing them. you should play more carefully.

  5. What is it about us, well about me, anyway, that makes me laugh when an animal bangs into a wall? We don't think it's funny when we do it.

Dog barking me away from his yard, so intent on me that he bounced, literally, off the wall I was walking past and he didn't see.

  6. Harry does that every morning. Roars around like a maniac. Across the tops of the furniture. Up the ladder to the wall tops. Down again.

    Crazy cat.

    Be safe in the storms
