September ended well. Yesterday, on the final day of the ninth month, Michigan native, Brad Keselowski, won the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Dover, Delaware. The event took place at the track that is called “The Monster Mile.”

The five extended fingers indicate that this is Brad’s fifth win this season. No one has won more races in the series this year. Teams and drivers are three weeks into the chase for the championship, and there are seven more races to go. After three wins during the “regular season,” Brad won the first chase race in Chicago, which was followed by a sixth place finish in Loudon, New Hampshire.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has designated all 83 counties in Michigan as primary natural disaster areas for drought and excessive heat conditions. That is the second such designation this year. After a mild winter and early warming conditions, we were struck with killing frost in March and April. The first round wiped out most of Michigan’s fruit crops. The second round hit beans and corn.
Other states have been hit harder. It’s not a good time to be a farmer.
It’s also not a good time to be a tax payer. After the elections, many new taxes and tax increases are scheduled to kick in. Why did they put it off until next year? :think:

Fair enough! 🙂 Car racing at this level is about team work taken to the nth degree. Much of that is invisible to the casual observer.
IMHO art, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Or am I wrong about that? :dontknow:
I’d like to declare my lawn and gardens a disaster this year too. I’m currently pursuing prices on aeration and seeding. Everyone else is doing sod. It’s crazy. Glad this summer is OVER!
I didn’t mow my lawn for five weeks, but then it recovered. You probably have the better plan. Fall is neat, isn’t it? I’m just bummed that the apple crop was mostly lost. I love the smell of those fresh Michigan apples. And they taste good too. :up:
The male person has made many grumbles about how much our hay cost this year. He said that we are not “self supporting” and we had better think of something or we might become “dinner!”
