Look! Up in the Sky

Psalm 19 New Living Translation (NLT)

The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
The skies display his craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak;
    night after night they make him known.
They speak without a sound or word;
    their voice is never heard.
Yet their message has gone throughout the earth,
    and their words to all the world.

God has made a home in the heavens for the sun.
It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding.
    It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race.
The sun rises at one end of the heavens
    and follows its course to the other end.
    Nothing can hide from its heat.

Meanwhile, here in Michigan it seems like we’ve entered a rainy season.  I’d like to have it warmer and drier.  A short while ago there was sleet falling from the sky and impacting on my office window.

About Chuck

I am retired after a career in electronics and in publishing. Today, my wife of 50+ years, Sylvia, and I live in a house on a hill beside a dirt road in rural west Michigan. We enjoy living in this country environment where livestock and wild life out number the human population.

  1. I heard we had snow flurries in Chicago over the weekend. We were in St. Louis where it was not quite as chilly. Poor kitties–we didn’t realize how cold it was going to get and didn’t put the heat on. They were happy to see us come home!

    • I’ve seen sleet, but no snow here this fall. The cold house must be uncomfortable for Grace. I hope she’s doing well. :hkitty:

  2. I have never tried the living translation Bible, but I hear it (J.Meyer, C.Stanley, etc.) on TV. Our preacher uses NIV and I use King James, but I’m not adverse to trying the living Bible. Seems like there are some really good study notes in it.

    I didn’t see the sleet, but we must have had a goodie of a storm too because the branches on the tree next to my son’s bedroom window were down this morning. I spent a good part of the morning re-arranging his room so that his bed is furthest from the window (probably nothing would happen, but just in case). Should have never set it up w/the bed so close to the window to start with… but it’s all better now. Wordy today, I know. 🙂 And hi to Sylvia too, please. :hkitty:

    • Folks at our church tend to use NIV. For study, I prefer NASB. NLT is rendered in a familiar idiom.

      Nothing wrong with “wordy.”

      I’m sure your son is safer now. Well done, Mom.

      Sylvia returns greetings

  3. Very nice picture with the crescent moon. I loved Michigan when we lived there – both summer and winter.

  4. Today, the first “cold” front managed to come through our area. For this first time since May we will have an over night low in the 60s! The snowbirds are just beginning to migrate into the area. Maybe one of these days we can open the windows a d turn off the AC! Do miss the beautiful fall colors up there but don’t miss the gray skies of winter.

    • This afternoon it’s 43 F outside. I’m feeling a bit chilly here in the house. Yes, the furnace is on, but the thermostat is set at 69 F. Those lead gray skies of winter are one of the minuses of living here in our native state of Michigan. However the summer offsets those. I think summer was on a Thursday this year. That’s okay by me. One day is very much like another any more. At least Sunday divides the days into weeks.
