About Chuck

I am retired after a career in electronics and in publishing. Today, my wife of 50+ years, Sylvia, and I live in a house on a hill beside a dirt road in rural west Michigan. We enjoy living in this country environment where livestock and wild life out number the human population.

  1. I love that second one. It would fit with my lily color scheme! But last year the deer even ate the lilies so I give up. I’m not a big fan of the Stella D’Oro ones

    • The second one is my favorite too. The Stellas were Sylvia’s choice. She bought them with the income from publishing an article in QST — Devoted entirely to Amateur Radio. It’s a magazine, and the article was on the construction of a unique design.

  2. I added a clump of ditch lilies to the yard a few years ago. Guess what? Yard looks like a roadside now. Orange is pretty.

    • I moved my ditch lilies to the edge of the cat tails. Three years later, the cat tails had moved on and made the lilies disappear.

  3. my lillies have no flowers…and, I’m darned if I can even find any buds on them…I don’t know what happened with my blooms this year ….they were great last year. My flowering crabapple had only one bloom on it …last year it was heavy with them….. just weird…. maybe our dry autumn had something to do with it all….
