The mood of the country at the end of WWII was best captured in the famous photo above. At a recent wedding that Sylvia and I attended, a reproduction of this photo had been placed on the wall of the fellowship hall where the reception took place.
I sat next to a woman who told me that the couple in the photo was sitting just over there. I was surprised that such famous folks just happened to be the aunt and uncle of the bride’s mother (a friend from church). So I asked the bride’s mom if that was true. She said, “No, but they were present when it happened and they know the other couple and have kept in touch.” They could tell you all about the folks in the picture. Interesting.
The aunt and uncle have been married for 65 years and they are in pretty good shape. Very nice folks as well.
Oh yes, the bride was beautiful. Aren’t they always? I used to wonder why gals looked so radiant on their wedding day. Do they have a secret? I’ve come to the conclusion that they do. It is called joy. What do you think?
.

I read somewhere that there are a bunch of folks who claim to be this couple. Now it makes me wonder.
Don't you love weddings?? I do. We've gotten invited to a bunch this year.
I saw an interview on TV with the lady who is way back in the left hand corner.
It's the one day you can feel and look like a princess..
Inflexible rule: All brides are beautiful. Joy is the secret.
how exciting to meet and talk with those people. yes, brides are full of joy on their wedding days. but I have learned, the hard way, over the years that joy does not come from another person, it comes from within.
