Our church meets in a large multi-function building. There is one large area where the congregation meets. That same area can be used for playing volley ball or (when the baskets are installed) basketball. We have registered to be a Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) for county emergency services. Part of that process required training for a large group of church members. That training took place on a Saturday morning.
Sylvia and I arrived at the parking lot several minutes early. As we got out of the car this large yellow dog came bouncing over to greet us. His body language said he was sooo happy to see us. I was expecting to be knocked over when he jumped up on me to lick my face.
He didn’t jump up he just greeted us like old friends. I’m a cat person, but I immediately liked this fellow. It was easy to see that he loved people. At the training session, everyone was talking about the yellow dog. Nobody knew where he had come from or what he was doing there. Everybody agreed he was one fine fellow.
Every time someone came or left, the yellow dog was there to greet them. All marveled at how well behaved he was.
Sunday morning, as Sylvia and I were approaching the church, we were met on the road by an unfamiliar red car. And there in the passenger seat was an extremely happy yellow dog. A woman was driving the car. She looked happy too.
At church, Pastor Mark told us the story. That morning, he saw the woman searching the area around the church campus. When he approached her, the woman explained that she was looking for a lost yellow dog. And that’s when they found each other.
The dog lives a mile south of the church and had wandered off. The family that owned him was frantic. The woman explained that her husband had been in tears that Sunday morning, and he never cries. The husband, his father and brother were out scouring the woods for their furry friend. She had decided to range a bit further out in the car.
So the happy yellow dog went home to be with his family. For our part, we pleased to know that such a fine animal was so deeply loved by those who cared for him.

Hooray! I'm sure glad they were reunited. 🙂
He's sure a beautiful fellow. Even tho I, too, am a cat person, I love other people's dogs.
Happy dog, happy people. Happy story.
what a great story and glad it has a happy ending. the perfect Christmas gift!
He sure is a smiler! Glad that the story ended well.
He ran out in front of our car the other day up by the church. It didn't occur to me that he could be our other neighbor's dog. Hopefully he stays a little closer to home now.
Aww!!! What a heartwarming story! I'm glad his family found him. I'd be devastated if Livvy got lost.
