Don’t let the title mislead you. It’s probably not what first came to your mind. Or mine. Sylvia had left the house on an errand. I was in the office catching up on some of my blogger buds. After finishing my blog-surfing session, I headed for the family room. As I walked past the back door I saw this:
“Strange,” I thought. I walked to and settled into my recliner. Then I heard the sound Midnight makes when He’s not happy. Time to investigate. Walk to the back door. He is not in the mud room (country word that means back porch). The sound is coming from the closet. I open the door. Midnight runs out, and I see this:
Earlier that had been a well organized space. It is again — after a major effort. Moral of the story? Never underestimate the power of a bored kitty. Especially if he managed to get himself closed in the closet.
At least the mystery of the paper bags on the entry-way floor was solved. I even had a good laugh out of it.
Personal Matters
Friday’s meet with the doctor went well. Just a slight tweak on the blood pressure meds. The blood pressure is very good — not like the 160/106 they found on my first visit to that office.
The hand continues to mend. I’ll need to continue limiting my online time for several more weeks. Trading the mouse for a track ball and using the voice recognition software have been a major help.
The Big Storm
Saturday it started with rain. Forecasters called for above freezing temperatures until after sunrise on Sunday. Here in the country, temperatures probably dropped just below freezing a bit earlier than that.
Rained turned to snow overnight and Sunday morning was white. On the ground and in the air. Roads were passable, but “greasy.” We had good attendance at church services, but afternoon and evening activities were canceled. I mounted the blade on John Deere and scraped the driveway after a late lunch.
This morning, I went out after breakfast to clean the driveway. I was greeted by strong winds and single digit temperatures. The drive was drifted shut. It took a while, but with front-end loader and blade, John and I got the job done. My hands were frozen when I came back in. A cup of hot coffee put the world back right again.
Sylvia’s friend, Shirley, called and offered her a ride to a planned activity this morning. Sylvia said that the road between us (east-west) would not be in good shape. Shirley said, “My truck will go anywhere.” She’s right. They are at church now filling Christmas treat bags for the children.
The sun is shining and it’s warm in this office. Life is good!

Oh Livvy has been making mischief lately, too. Is it something in the northern air?! She has begun chewing on our vinyl blinds cords, too. :S
Sorry I have not been around to comment as much. I have developed a huge floater in my eye, which makes it difficult to see or read on the computer. I got the Dragon Naturally Speaking, and haven't had a chance to try it! I also got the Magic Jack phone device.. I'll be writing a review when I can read again.
Have a blessed Christmas!
I'm glad that your wrist problem hasn't made it impossible to do manual things like hooking up that blade. I've run the blower twice in the past 2 days.
Cats sure can get into trouble when they want to. The last time I had a couple of cats, I was lucky enough to have a dog that gently kept them in line. They were all happy, and the cats treated the dog like a favorite aunt. The dog actually looked a lot like the yellow dog in your last post, including the pinkish nose.
I don't know about Midnight, but Hobbes has cabin fever and the winter really just started. Ugh. He's chasing Grace around the house and there is an awful lot of spitting and hissing going on around here.
Sounds like you got our weather. It's very cold and blustery. Emma is sick of me using that term, but there is really no other. Ick.
Guess we're all in this (winter) together. But, oh, so grateful for a warm domicile!
Ha ha. Wonder how many people gasped when they saw your title. We don't have cats in the house…one little Yorkshire Terrier is enough to handle. Glad you're on the mend. It's absolutely freezing here too.
Kittys can get to be a handful. One of our late ones used to rearrange our Nativity set,and we had to be careful walking arounf the living room just incase we mike step on something that would get broken.
