Almost Here

We’ve been eagerly awaiting spring and it’s coming soon to your neighborhood and mine.  I’m talking about spring.  It may shock some, but it is not my favorite season.  The joy in seeing spring, for me, is winter’s end.

Earliest Spring

Lead-gray sky above,
Thick clouds sent from the west lake,
Earth is cold and damp.

About Chuck

I am retired after a career in electronics and in publishing. Today, my wife of 50+ years, Sylvia, and I live in a house on a hill beside a dirt road in rural west Michigan. We enjoy living in this country environment where livestock and wild life out number the human population.

  2. Autumn–that is my favorite season. I love the colors. Spring is dirty snow, mud, yard work and weather that is undependable. Although the snowdrops popped up today and I was happy to see them!

    • Autumn is my favorite too. I love the cool air, warm earth, and the smells and satisfaction of the harvest. Our snowdrops grow in a shaded place and tend to bloom much later than yours.

  3. The month you have captured in your poem does not even count as spring. It is the end of winter. I’m awaiting the good parts.

    • You may not count that as spring, but that’s the way it frequently begins. Fortunately it develops, blossoms and blooms in full glory. First day of spring this Friday. (New moon too)
