We had lunch with our older son yesterday before we went to the shelter to bring Lily home.  We always enjoy those lunches with him.  For a variety of reasons, we haven’t been all that regular in meeting since for the last month and a half.

The roads were not particularly good, but we wanted to see him this week before he and his wife leave for a vacation Puerto Rico.  You might enjoy summer vacations, but his seasonal business dictates winter vacations.  What better place to go this time of year?

Sylvia and I would love to go there again.  Our one trip there was marred by a hurricane shutting down the island for the last half of our short stay.  We were a day late getting back home.  We have friend there that we’d love to see again, but it’s not likely that we’ll do that except on FaceBook.

Lily

Our newest addition to the household is still hiding in the basement.  She did come out last night and used the litter box, ate, probably drank and checked out her bed.  Today, we can’t locate her at all.  I put out a couple of tasty treats to tempt her.  Patience is the order of the day.

Sylvia and I ran lots of errands today.  We did buy a bag of the same kind of dry food that Lily was eating at the shelter.  We are hoping that will help ease the transition to her new home.

  1. Thank you for the kind words over at my place. Good thoughts and prayers are always nice to come across.

As for vacations, winter ones are way better than summer ones, I think! I love any chance to get out of the cold. Well, most any chance.

Glad Lily came out a bit. She has no idea how happy she’s going to be yet, but we all know and are cheering her on. :cheer:

    • I’m just reflecting some of the joy and goodwill you’ve sent my way.

I’m more a “hunker down and in for winter” kind of a guy. I’ve done the travel stuff and now I’m content to stay at home.

Lily came out and played with us Saturday night. :frolic: Sylvia and I are very happy about that.

  2. Aw, poor girl. Be sure to put out some cat toys too (I’m sure you already did) because she’ll come out at night and probably play a bit. she’ll come around.

    • There are two toys that we’ve left out. Last night, she ate more than before, drank quite a bit of water, played with Mr Mousie and took the treats–twice. We know that patience and love will win. 8)

    • Tonight, Saturday, Lily came out to play with us for a while. We had a fun time. She’s been eating, drinking, doing her “necessary” and playing with the toys.

      • It’s the cat toys that get ’em every time! 🙂 I’m glad she’s coming around. She’s gonna be in your lap watching Nascar before you know it!

        • She is doing well. :yea: and it’s clicking with us. :frolic: We’ve got a winner. Now we just have to fatten her up and get her familiar with the drivers and car numbers. So she can wake me when the no 2 car is doing well.

          Chuck
