First, a question. What connection does the title of this post and the above graphic share?
I’m posting late today. It all started Tuesday morning when I went with Sylvia for her weekly visit to father. I had to do a simple software upgrade on his computer. He is on dial-up, but I thought I’d have time enough to get it done before 2:45 PM when Dad leaves for a regular meeting with friends. Wrong!
Dad left. Sylvia decided to drive to a nearby store to do her weekly shopping. She returned. Dad returned. Sylvia had bought fixings for supper so she cooked that and we ate. A bit before 7:30 PM it looked like the download would finish in about 20 minutes. Had it been worth the 9 hours already invested? Probably not. Why? Because, with 20 minutes to go, we lost the connection. “Retry” started the process anew. I shut down the computer unplugged the cords and cables.
We arrived back home late that evening with Dad’s computer. The next morning I hooked it up to our high-speed connection and 20 minutes later had that job done. Spent another 20 minutes upgrading other software and updating Windows XP.
Thursday afternoon, I returned Dad’s computer and made sure it was working. I also promised myself that next time I’d just bring his computer back here for doing major updates and upgrades.
So should I have titled this “Hapless?”
But that was yesterday. We had snow overnight, with little accumulation. This morning, I brought Midnight (aka Kitty) in for a trial run.
A man from the John Deere dealership stopped by for my tractor — it is going in for routine maintenance. Soon after he left, it started snowing heavy. Ugh! But wait! The sun is out. Disregard the “ugh.”
The last time I saw Midnight he was playing with a spool. Do you have any good tips for keeping a 9-month-old kitten and his mistress happy? Suggestions are welcome.
OH… I came over to tell you that you are one of the top commenters for Nov at My Quality Day, and you have a link for the next month.
Vanilla, Couldn't agree more.
Lin, Yes. We've got scratches on our hands to prove it. A spool, a ping pong ball and a couple of golf balls have provided good toys for the little guy.
What??! You brought the kitten in??! The HOUSE???!
Milk jug rings, a piece of paper folded like a fan and then cut to make it more frayed, then wrap it with a string–they LOVE that. You can drag it for kitty to chase or tie it to a door handle for batting around. Think simple–they love simple toys more than store bought.
–and this is why I finally bit the bullet this summer and subscribed to high-speed internet.
At my age, life is too short to spend it waiting for downloads!
