Actually, it is what I didn’t do. I had expected to have dropped out of Entrecard by now. I’m not happy with them, but 65 to 100 fellow EC bloggers continue to visit me and drop their cards here on Secondary Roads each day. That is a third of what I used to see, but it is still significant. I will continue to monitor the situation.

My accomplishment, if you can call it that, is that I’ve decided not to decide about EC at this point. Is that silly?

Your Help – Please

I’m asking for your advice. I would like you to help me by answering this question:
What can I do to improve this blog and to make it more interesting?
I thank you in advance for any help you give me.

About Chuck

I am retired after a career in electronics and in publishing. Today, my wife of 50+ years, Sylvia, and I live in a house on a hill beside a dirt road in rural west Michigan. We enjoy living in this country environment where livestock and wild life out number the human population.

  1. What Lin said. Just keep on regaling us with life as she is lived in your bailiwick.

  2. Lin, I've got kitties, but they have to stay out in the barn. I have no say in that. I love reading about Hobbes. I saved that picture you posted of Henry, and I'm using it for wallpaper on my computer desktop. Love those eyes.

Autie E, Thanks, and I'll visit you too.

Justine, Thanks for the input. I appreciate your thoughts. Family stories are fun to tell. What makes you think that Sylvia and I have silly conversations? What makes you think I might survive if I reported on one — if it actually existed?

Meghan, I got the message the first time. You think an arthritic old man with palsied hands could trim sheepses little hooveses? You have higher aspirations for me than I have for myself. Well, thanks at least for the confidence. Are you going to blog about your trip soon? Looking forward to the report.

Jackie, Those EC drops keep coming and it makes me very reticent to remove the widget. I have yet to see any sponsor ads and when they do appear, I'll have to see if I find them objectionable.
I've stopped dropping — well, almost stopped. I'll never go back to doing 300 a day. That was madness, and it left me with no life except here at the computer.

    Thanks all. Bless you.

  3. Well as I swung back and forth I probably am not the best to give advice.

I will say I am enjoying being more relaxed and not having the pressure of dropping.

I made myself slow down while running my adgi ads to get my one hundred everyday.

Now I have developed the same habit with them as I had with EC. Almost every ad are the exact people you know from EC.

Personally, in the end all, at least for me, I have a lot of damage repair to do where Ec and my blog are controlled.

And not in the manner you might think.

What I discovered once I hit that cancel button just how dependent EC truly makes you and your blog on them.

To the detriment of working your blogs among other forums. Yes I picked up a lot of traffic with Ec.

I have met some wonderful people. But, I also lost an entire group of readership that was and never did go with EC.

You will make the decision that is right for you. I have no doubt!!
    Happy week!
    Jackie:-)

  4. I think it would be very interesting to see pictures of you digging post holes for your neighbor. Oooh, oooh, and pictures of you trimming hooves on your neighbor's sheep – 64 little hooves in all! Now that would be something!

And if you could explain was an EC is, why you use it and what the benefits are. I'm old and not up to date on the new fangled technology these days. Could you bring me up to speed?

  6. I already think your blog is interesting. If it wasn't I wouldn't keep coming back! Let's see. Some of my favorite posts are when you relate family stories. I also love seeing pictures of where you live, what's going on around you.

How about some day to day post about silly conversations you and Sylvia have, stuff like that?

    Justine 😮 )

  7. I'm with you on this. I have moved the widget lower and will stay because on my traffic. I will visit you with or with out the widget. I have posted my I Did it Monday. check it out. Link in my name. Happy day for you.The start of something new!

  8. I like coming here each day, Chuck, and if I knew what it took to make a blog better, I'd be doing it myself! It's tough to know what's big with the masses. Perhaps you need a orange stripey kitty as your mascot–my ratings fly on the days I post about him! Go figure.
