I stepped out the back door and found myself looking at this guy. He was looking back at me.
I got down on the driveway to get that shot and this one.
This is about the largest praying mantis that I have seen. I’m always glad to see them, because they eat other bugs.
If it is large, it is a female. I love how they turn and give you the stare of death…for a BUG! I will admit to being scared though.
Watch for eggs in your plantings…if you have a female, you have eggs somewhere.
They certainly can be death for a bug. Thanks for the info.
Speaking of Secondary roads: we just returned from Marietta GA. after a 7 day cruize with Stacy & Jamie & Reagan. Sailed out of Miami with Norwegian on the Escape (Huge ship, 4500 passengers. Coming home we traveled most of the way on US 127 from Chattanoga to Lansing, with a change over from Cincinatti up to Dayton and back over to 127. Interesting 2 lane experience with a slightly crooked trail.
That was a neat experience. Did you have that 2 lane experience on the bike? Cause that might have been very interesting.
Biking is history by about 8 years guessing. But still think about it. Yes that would have been a neat ride.
😀
Especially nice a bit later when fall colors are in their full glory.
Really neat face. It looks like he/she is smiling !!
It is interesting. With eyes that far apart, I’m sure it has excellent depth perception.
Cool! Nice pictures too.
Thanks, Doug. It was fun getting down to his level to get the pix.
Yikes! You are being invaded.
It looks like they are aliens from outer space . . . or something. However, no ray guns and no flying saucers. :whaa:
If it had a ray gun (and was much taller) it could be Zorak from the old Space Ghost cartoon. :haha:

I actually remember watching Space Ghost with you. I had forgotten that Zorak was to the locust family what Kevin is to the rabbit clan.
Too cool! S/He looks Disney happy- s/he must be eating well
It’s a good time for the mantis to eat well. I was very pleased with the images that I captured.
Thanks for the picture!
When we lived in MI, we had a large bow window with lots of plants. A mantis got into my car and I took him home and put him in the bow window area. I would feed him moths and other insects from out side. I would give them to him with a hemostat. We had him for 3-4 months. A very interesting experience.
That must have been an great experience. It’s just the neat kind of thing that I would expect you to do.
