My World ~ Spots the Hunter

As I sat at the computer I saw Spots, our male cat, heading toward the barn. He walked past a dried weed that lay on the driveway where the mower deck had thrown it.

A puff of wind blew on the weedy wad and caused it to move. Spots stopped and looked back. He was interested. He began to stalk.

Another puff of wind. Another movement. Spots pounced on the weed. (No, not that kind of weed!)

On close examination, he realized he had been had. Then it was look around and see if anyone is watching. (A guy has to maintain his dignity.)

With feline dignity fully intact, he hopped away, showing that old weed his heels as he went to get a drink of water in the barn.

About Chuck

I am retired after a career in electronics and in publishing. Today, my wife of 50+ years, Sylvia, and I live in a house on a hill beside a dirt road in rural west Michigan. We enjoy living in this country environment where livestock and wild life out number the human population.

  1. Heeheeheeeeeeeeeeeeeee! This was great, Chuck. He is such a gorgeous kitty!

    Justine ;o )

  2. Cats and dogs do the cutest things sometimes. You managed to capture an adorable scene both on camera and with your words. I see all is well in your neck of the woods…best wishes being sent your way…

  3. Look! A Holstein cat. Very closely matches my dog, and could be about the same size, too. (He will also chase a moving leaf.)

  4. Adorable.. you got some great pics of him! My cat goes crazy when leaves blow into the house.. she pounces on them all day!

  5. We have such fun watching our black cat, Jack, pounce on stuff. Lately he's been trying to catch ground squirrels.

  6. Pretty cute! I once saw a hawk miss something in a field and try, o so hard, to look as if that was what he had intended all along!

Hope you weren't in the really bad weather yesterday. It stayed south of us.

  7. Great little photo essay. Never mind the cat, I've often mistaken a bit of plastic floating in the wind for a large rat.
