Quo Vadis Entrecard?

I had planned to be gone from the Entrecard scene by now. However, enough of you, my friends, have kept on dropping your card on my widget that I couldn’t ignore you. I’ve stuck around and kept the widget on this blog.

The sponsor ads program started today. They are calling it a beta launch of the program. From the dashboard you can click on “Sponsor Ads” and from there you can reject one of the two ads. As they have backed off, I have decided to postpone my exit as well.

Some folks have asked about Entrecard. The best way to learn about them is to visit their Website and read about it. I found that it did put in touch with a lot of other bloggers. Some of them were wonderful folk, and some were not. It’s like going out in public where you’ll find all kinds of people and blogs.

A lot of the traffic is there for the drops, but some will stop and read. If you provide the content, they will even come back. I met many of my favorite blogger buds through Entrecard.

I’ve been on the 300 drops/day treadmill. That is not fun!

Bottom Line: I’m sticking around for a bit longer. How long? Can’t say.

  1. Cacai, Thanks for the nice words. You are in my browser's bookmarks so that I can remember to visit each day. Don't always comment, but I do visit.

FishHawk, What can I say? I'm at least going to try . . . 🙂

  2. Are you trying to make people think that you are nice and reasonable now? I think it's a little late for that.

  3. Auntie, I've allowed both to run. Time will tell.

Mom, It's hard to adjust when the rules keep changing.

Karen, That's probably a good idea. Now that we don't give points (only get them) when we drop. The return drop is not quite as important, but it does count for your standing on the campaign page.

Pricilla, Yes, I moved it very low on the page. It is now higher, but not at the top.

Mike, A lot of us are reluctant to leave.

John, If we can't control what appears on the widget, I'll drop it immediately. No debate.

    Lin, I understand.

Jackie, It may not be as important as so many of us believe. You are right, we each do what works for us.

Shutterbug, I had that happen to me a while back it was weeks before I was fully functional again. Even had to reformat the hard drive. I've improved my protection software and have been okay. I know it was clicking on an ad or a widget for one program or another that resulted in a major infection that almost made me walk away from the whole mess.

  4. I actually decided to finally leave not necessarily for the paid ads debacle but the fact that dropping on blogs which prompted virus warnings, downloads and takeovers of my browser were too much a nuisance and I dropped Adgitize for the same reason. It's too early to tell if I've lost any traffic though my bounce rate has decreased. We'll have to see what happens.

  5. I think everyone should choose exactly what works for them Chuck.

It is difficult getting use to a new routine but other than the hard core 300 a day droppers I haven't lost many readers at all.

This next bit is in reference to your comment about the video. You interpreted it just like my Walter would have…very literal.

The entire song and video is addressing the point that we are all earthbound misfits here. It sends out two messages, one, don;t let fear keep you from making changes…go out and seek life, find your dreams and the other is in reference to only being travelers here.

    Hope that helps some!!
    Happy day,
    Jackie:-)

  6. I think I'm going to wait and see what is being advertised. I love how they always go hard core and then back off when everyone starts leaving. That routine is so very OLD with me.

  7. I already deleted Entrecard from my programming blogs. I didn't actively drop from those accounts, so I'm not losing much traffic.

I hate the idea of having no control over what's advertised on my blog. If I see anything I consider offensive, I'll be taking Entrecard off English Wilderness too. 🙁

Quite a few of my favourite blogs have left already. Not that it makes much difference to me, I'll still visit them 🙂

  8. I'm sticking around for a while also.I even opened my blog bck up for fellow blogges and advertise on my site again.I guess i'm a glutton for punishment.

  9. I am sticking with Entrecard too but not focusing on returning drops anymore or doing my average 100 a day for both my blogs. I never did do the 300 a day–just took way too long and I do have a life to live.

  10. I'm glad you're staying for a bit.

It is difficult to adjust to changes, especially when nobody really knows what those changes will bring.

  11. good for you. I feel the traffic is good, I hope she will stay true to her word about the sponsor ads and let us choose which one. I checked marked one just to see if it will work. I do like reading your blog. sometimes I do not comment however I do read it. Have a nice day.
