Sunday School ~ Malachi

Malachi, the name means “my messenger.” Whether Malachi is a name or a title, the man who penned this book was probably a contemporary of Nehemiah. He spoke against half-hearted worship of God. (As did Nehemiah.) He also spoke of a day when God would come to purify his people.

Key verses:

1:2 “I have loved you says the Lord.”

3:6a “I the Lord do not change.”

3:10-12 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse,
that there may be food in my house.
Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty,
“and see if I will not throw open
the floodgates of heaven
and pour out so much blessing
that you will not have room enough for it.
I will prevent pests from devouring your crops,
and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,”
says the LORD Almighty.
“Then all the nations will call you blessed,
for yours will be a delightful land,”
says the LORD Almighty.”

3:16-17a Then those who feared the LORD
talked with each other,
and the LORD listened and heard.
A scroll of remembrance
was written in his presence
concerning those who feared the LORD
and honored his name.
“They will be mine,”
says the LORD Almighty,
“in the day when I make up
my treasured possession.”

  3. It is good to dwell on the thought that the LORD never change. Our mind always tells us otherwise, and we end up in a lot of trouble and not enjoying the abundant blessings from God the Almighty.

  4. “I the Lord do not change”……
I love that and isn’t it comforting to know that in this world that changes daily one thing remains steadfast and true….our Father and his love……
Thank you Secondary Roads. You are such a blessing 🙂
