Giving Thanks

My 5 top reasons to be thankful

Sylvia and I will not see our immediate family tomorrow.  Briana will be home to see her parents for a brief visit, and her Uncle Scott will be at home west of the Mississippi.  My sister, Clara, plans to be here with her hubby, his brother and our sister Maggie.

The gals have planned a good meal, but that’s not what the day is about.  It should be a day to express gratitude.  There is so much for which we should be grateful.  Have you thought about it?

Yesterday, I heard someone cite their list as: Family, Friends, God and Country.  That’s a good list.  My list contains those, but is much larger.  I think of the blue bird that landed on the bush outside the office window a few minutes ago.  She landed, cocked her head as if in greeting and then went on her way.  It was a small thing, but it lifted my spirits.  Do you notice small things and give thanks for them?  If not, why not try doing that this week?

Miscelanea

My hand is getting better.  It was good to cut back on the online activities when the symptoms first appeared.

The new track ball is going to be helpful.  Unfortunately, the scroll ring doesn’t work right.  The company is sending a replacement.  (I’ll report more on that later.)

The voice-recognition software works well.  Unfortunately, I have inherited the cold that has plagued Sylvia for nearly two weeks.  A tickle in the throat on Monday morning has turned into a very sore throat the last couple of mornings.  Bottom line: I’m not talking to my computer — it makes the throat unhappy.

Hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving Day.

  1. Chuck & Sylvia- Although most of your family was far away, I'm sure that you and Sylvia, with Clara, had a wonderful day. Always horray for bluebirds!
Hey- the verification word just commended me (or you) to "reminess." Got a special memory?

  2. Glad you are feeling a little better Chuck. Hope you and Sylvia had a wonderful Thanksgiving day 🙂

  3. Sounds like an evil plot to keep you off the computer!! Rats.

I'm with you on the little stuff. That is why I write about the wacky butterfly in my yard, the frogs, and the cats. There are lots of little joys, you just have to still yourself to see and enjoy them. Most people are too busy or don't care to notice. I say they are missing out.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, the family, and Midnight. I'm thankful that you are my pally, Chuck!

  4. Looks like there are six good reasons to be thankful. (I'd guess you didn't count the old man on the left; but be grateful for him, too, for thus you appreciate the five others!)

    Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

  5. I'm sorry about your cold. They are miserable. I hope you feel better very quickly.

Have a joyous Thanksgiving. The hubby and I are alone this year. I'll be calling my siblings, nieces and nephews.
