Almost as an afterthought, I added a “Thought For the Day” on last Saturday’s post. My multi-tasking mind was involved in processing thoughts of goal setting — both short-term and long. I do this frequently.
That’s when, unbidden, the thought for the day entered my mind: “There is nothing wrong with obsession as long as you do it in moderation.” My mind was telling me to keep things focused and balanced.
Thanks to those who left comments. In her comment, my friend Sharky said, “Whew! Can I define ‘moderation?’ ” I asked her to do that and her reply shows an amazing depth of understanding.
Moderation – The level of action taken by a person which allows time for sleep at least every other night, and the eating of sandwiches while engaging in the activity. The subject may lose track of time, but never loses sight of the fact that they do actually have a home, or family. While occasional appointments may be missed, overall the subject is not so obsessed that they fail to recognize a husband or child if one appears nearby with a plaintive appearance, or allow crumbs to fall into the computer keyboard, or forget to make a new pot of coffee.
Hats off to Sharky! What an amazing depth of understanding. Do you suppose she learned that from a book?
Have a great day. I’m fresh out of thoughts. Before you go, would you pass me that sandwich?

Make mine a ham and cheese.
Haha… you are getting to know me way too well.
