Boston April 2013

This should have been posted some time ago.  In doing blog maintenance, I discovered this still in draft stage.  Somehow, I failed to publish this short piece, which is a reaction to the craven cowardice of the perpetrators of the Boston bombing and salute to the those who rushed to the rescue.

When these lines were written we didn’t know that there were two bombers–brothers that share the same surname.  Here is Boston April 2013

The cowards fled while heroes sped
Their goal the innocent blood
That flowed from the grievous wounds

Such great shame now stains the name
That dealt such treacherous blow
Our spirit bent but not our will

Let us sing the heroes’ praise
Our voices united raise
Justice reign and freedom ring

  1. I have written posts only to find them days later sitting there unpublished. I sometimes think it is God preventing me from posting something that didn’t need posted, or that didn’t need posted just yet. It was a good poem, nonetheless.
I pray that this does not become a common occurrence.

  2. Good as a reminder even days after the fact. I’m amazed that more stuff like this doesn’t happen. Our security folks have to be doing an awful lot right… it’s a big country with a lot of freedom (hooray!)

    • See Galatians 5:1, 13 -15. That fifth chapter of Galatians was in my mind as I penned those words.

Without doubt, our nation’s security officers are doing a magnificent job. Risk from these threats is part of the price of freedom, but I’d rather face that then to live under a despotic thumb.

Thanks for your persistence in filing a comment. I’m very please that you finally were able to do it.

    • There is no righteousness in shedding innocent blood. And yet the creator’s image is upon them. Unfortunately, it has been twisted, distorted and turned. 😥

  3. It was so sad, it is so sad. It’s a nice poem that you’ve written as a tribute to tragedy.

    • ‘to the tragedy.’

And just an FYI, if someone has their website addy in the comment info. it won’t post. I had to try three different things to post a reply. :dontknow:
