Hooray for the fireworks!

I wanted to capture images of fireworks this year.  The results are in, and the reactions are mixed.  I did capture some images, but I’m less than thrilled.

Color? Yes. But tree blocks the view.

After the mediocre photo above, I tried a little harder.

A 15-sec exposure captures multiple “bursts.”

The evening air was hot and very humid.  For that reason, I didn’t stay out to try further experiments.  Actually, that’s not entirely true.  I could have stayed out longer, but the mosquitoes were well organized and ganging up on me.  Some of them were signaling with lights for reinforcements.  I could see several with flashlights leading the way through the dark.  That’s when I decided that a full retreat was in order.  And that’s what I did.

Wouldn’t you?

  1. Too right; I’m not waiting for a squadron of mospuitoes. Our fireworks display was postponed indefinitely; and after more dry days, temps over 100, who knows when?

  2. Oddly enough, I was able to sit outside in the sweltering heat last night and burn some wood (there goes the last of the 1855 kitchen walls and ceiling). I think only a handful of mosquitoes pestered me!!! It was a miracle. I chalk it up to lack of rain. Yay!
