Three Reasons

Ever have one of those days?

Ever have one of those days?

It’s nearly 4 PM and I’m still sipping on my morning coffee.  I offer three reasons for that.

1. My insulated cup keeps my coffee hot for hours.  (More than four even.)

2. I sip on my coffee.  (I don’t race to get it down.  It tastes too good to gulp it down.)

3. I got a late start.  (Yes, it was before noon.)

This probably never happens to you.  Or does it?

I am retired after a career in electronics and in publishing. Today, my wife of 50+ years, Sylvia, and I live in a house on a hill beside a dirt road in rural west Michigan. We enjoy living in this country environment where livestock and wild life out number the human population.

  1. I can’t drink coffee after the morning hours—I just get too amped up by the caffeine. Then I can’t sleep.

I have, however, gulped down my morning coffee with my lunch, being too busy at work to get a sip.

    • Like medicine, we all react caffeine differently. During cold weather, I’ll have a second helping in the afternoon. (It helps.)

  2. I take forever to drink a cup of coffee too. I read somewhere that if you drink it slowly the caffeine lasts longer in your system. Don’t know about that.

    • Hey I like that idea that caffeine lasts longer in my system. With cooler weather approaching, I’ll soon double down and brew a second batch each day. One of the things that makes winter survivable for me.

  3. No, it does not happen to me. I will have had six or eight cups by 4:03. However do you take in enough caffeine to function properly?

    • My “cup” is 18 oz. I normally don’t take that long, but today there were multiple, layered distractions. This may also explain my frequent inability “to function properly.” :dunce:
