Saturday Song ~ New Again

Wednesday morning, my friend, Paul Decess passed away after an extended illness. His bed had been placed in the room of their small house that faces the lake on which they’ve lived. Plenty of light, fresh air and the sounds of activity on the lake he loved were there for him. He and his wife have lived in that place since his retirement some years ago.

Paul drafting plans for the Ebenezer Center.

By profession, Paul was an engineer. He drew the plans for our church’s community center and was the head trustee as we went through the building project. He had a keen mind and willing hands. So many other things he did, I cannot tell them all. He would cut onions for the annual chili dinner, because they didn’t make him cry. We who are his friends will miss him greatly. Forgive us if we cry.

My song for today is one that I almost posted on the Saturday before Easter. While our life goes on, for Paul all things are new again. He knows no more suffering, and he knows no more pain.

Whatever happens, whatever you see, He makes all things new again.

Saturday Song ~ May It Be

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of my favorites. That’s true for the print version and the cinematic version. It was difficult to wait until the extended cuts were released on DVD. But I waited and then watched each film in those longer versions for my first viewing.

Enya does a lovely job rendering the song. I hope you like it.

Saturday Song ~ Kevin Skinner

I came across this video on the Internet. I don’t watch America’s Got Talent on TV. It doesn’t start with an N, and that’s what I watch these days, News, NCIS and NASCAR. However, this video seemed to fit in with the talent theme that we have going here on the Secondary Roads.

Kevin Skinner is a 35-year-old unemployed farmer. He seems like a hick and a hay seed. Then he plays the guitar in an excellent finger picking style and sings with so much emotion that your eyes are apt to get a bit misty. Especially if you have a special someone in your life.

Enjoy Kevin’s amazing performance then go to yesterdays post and vote for one of the contestants in our contest. Pricilla urges you to vote early and vote often. Hey, is that right?

Problems on Secondary Roads

I mentioned earlier that I’d picked up an infection from the Internet. It seemed to be cleaned up, but either that was untrue or I’ve gotten another even more serious infection. It is not going down easy. I spent all day Friday working on it, and the end is not in sight.

Because of this infection, I’ve not been able to do my normal EC drops. I’m sorry about that. I’ll try to be back in business ASAP. Thanks for your understanding.

Misc. & Saturday Song ~ July 4th

Before going on to other matters, my blogger bud, Lin is having a Dork Off contest and I’m entered. If you love me, you’ll visit Duck and Wheel with String and vote for Chuck. If you hate me, you’ll do the same. Thanks, and I appreciate it!

I was hit yesterday with Antivirus System Pro. This is a rogue anti-spyware program. I’m not sure how I picked up the infection. I was doing EC and Adgitize drops when things went beserk. I spent the rest of the day (and night) getting it cleaned up. I went to Windows’ Task Manager and clicked on the processes tab. Then I closed sysguard.exe. That helped enough for me to run Spybot – Search and Destroy. After I post this, I need to do some more work. I’m still getting strange redirects and warnings that reliable Websites are malicious.

Learn a lesson and equip yourself today with anti-spyware and anti-malware programs. Spybot has worked well for me, but I also use Ad-Aware and Malware Bytes. Scan your system regularly.

All this has left me longing for a simpler time, and today we celebrate the birth of our great nation. For that reason, I take you back in time to listen to Kate Smith as she sings, what for me is her trademark song, God bless America.

Wishing you and yours a happy 4th of July. God Bless America!

Saturday Song ~ Gravity

This song carries on the “allure of the road” theme of yesterday’s post. I love to listen to this song before going to bed at night. The spirit of this song went into what I wrote for yesterday. While that post talked about reluctance to leave, this song expresses the sentiments of the wandering spirit. I hope you enjoy it.
